These guidelines are designed to assist those responsible for the development of digital ready design of electronic artwork for engraving and other productions from Wolff Studios. Use of these standards will insure the best quality image at the most economical price. If you need custom artwork, please email or call for an estimate. If your art is substandard or does not meet these requirements, we will notify you with corrective information or we can modify it for you. An estimate will be proposed before any work is started. If a simple fix is all it takes, no additional fee is charged.

Please note that all images and artwork are suitable for sand blasted engraving. As in most things, simple is better, not only from a design consideration but from an economic and aesthetic one as well. Your project is discussed and looked at from a sales, design and production standpoint in order to produce the highest quality possible. If there is any question as to the quality or suitability of your digital artwork, we will be in contact.

• Format & Programs - Macintosh and PC platforms are preferred. All applications listed in their most recent versions are preferred. The document color mode should be CMYK, not RGB. If using any platform, convert all fonts to outlines and save files as EPS.File Formats: .ai, .eps, and .pdf formats preferred. PDFs should be created using the Press Quality or PDF/X1a:2001 presets.
  Applications: Adobe Illustrator (preferred), Adobe Photoshop,
• Fonts - Do not supply fonts with any file. If you are a professional designer with skills in Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw, you will know how to submit outlined fonts for production. Please supply a PDF file for proofing. If special typefaces are used for creative logos and art, outline your fonts to prevent reflow and font matching issues.
• Images - All EPS, TIFF, high resolution CMYK, JPEG and PSD scanned images must be included with the files. If images are linked or embedded within a design, the original images must be supplied as an attachment. Logos should be created or converted as art elements within the original program.
  Scans should be high resolution of at least 300 dpi based on 100% size. Scans supplied less than 100% size will need to have a high enough resolution so when enlarged image will equal 300 dpi. You may also submit art to be scanned by Wolff Studios. Please send artwork in a protective envelope with sufficient postage. Oversize art may need to be scanned in separate passes and combined. Additional fees may be charged.
• Colors - The document color mode should be CMYK. PMS spot colors should be used from the Pantone Solid Coated Library. Unused colors must be removed from the file's swatch pallette.
• Sending Files - Files can be supplied on any of the following medias: CD, DVD, Zip Disk, or flash drive. If sending files via e-mail, the size should be 5MB or smaller. To prevent file corruption, it is important to compress (zip or stuff) your files. All files must be accompanied with a hard copy proof or low resolution PDF for reference. This guarantees issues such as font substitution and font re-flow are identified before proceeding to printing.
• Proofs - A hardcopy high-quality composite proof must accompany all materials submitted. File match cannot be guaranteed if a proof is not provided. Color proofs should be sent with all files. PMS colors should be defined in the file. This includes any builds, tints, gradients or overprints. A low resolution PDF for reference can be provided as well. For painted bottles and images, the proof is a guide and minor color variations are normal and constitute acceptable completion of your order.

Wolff Studios strives to produce the finest and most unique etched bottles, glass and other items and each one is hand produced. Although minor variation can occur, your item will be a unique and a source of admiration and pride for may years.
